Turns out Apple has an answer in the form of an official apology as well as offer to replace batteries on affected iPhone units at a highly-discounted rate.Battery replacements for out-of-warranty iPhones typically cost $79, but as a token of apology, Apple has announced that they will reduce the price down to $29. “Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement by $50 — from $79 to $29 — for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, starting in late January and available worldwide through December 2018.”The company has also announced that they plan to release an update to iOS that will give users more “visibility” into the health of their iPhone’s battery, so they have a better idea of whether or not it is actually affecting their device’s performance.
