LG and Here Technologies have announced a new partnership to create a new platform for self-driving cars. The platform will offer a next-generation telematics solution for self-driving cars. Here Technologies was a part of Nokia until 2015. This digital mapping and location services provider has a respectable pedigree and it’s now owned by a consortium that includes Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. The platform that these companies will develop is going to combine LG’s telematics technology with map data and location services provided by Here’s Open Location Platform. They’ll provide automakers globally with a robust and secure data communications hub for both semi and fully autonomous cars.Here’s HD Live Map technology is going to be incorporated into the platform that both companies develop.
