Samsung, Toshiba take on Apple with 'iPad killers'
South Korean technology firm Samsung has unveiled a new tablet computer that is seemingly poised to challenge Apple's popular iPad for dominance in the marketplace.Dubbed the Galaxy Tab, the new device sports a seven-inch touchscreen and comes pre-loaded with Google's Android 2.2 operating system and Adobe's Flash Player, according to various media reports. The screen is smaller than the iPad's nearly 10-inch display, and the device is lighter as well. Furthermore, it will have storage capacity of 16 GB or 32GB and is 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth compatible.The announcement came at the IFA electronics trade fair in Berlin, Germany, on Thursday."Samsung recognizes the tremendous growth potential in this newly-created market and we believe that the Samsung Galaxy Tab brings a unique and open proposition to market," the company's head of mobile communications JK Shin told reporters.
