The fundraising target was exceeded on Wednesday morning, with around 21,000 people pledging more than $900,000 (£570,000) in total - with 39 days of the campaign still remaining.Tesla is best known for his work on alternating current and his ideas were used in the development of radio communications, the electric motor and radar.
