Microsoft unveils Windows Phone 8

Well, we came away from the Windows Phone Summit with our interest piqued in a good way – it seems that good times are ahead of Windows Phone platform supporters after seeing just what Microsoft has done to it in their laboratories. The final product of Windows Phone 8 is shaping up to look pretty good, but here are some essentials that you ought to take note. For starters, Windows Phone 8 WILL NOT run on current devices, while the Windows Phone 7.8 update will offer the brand new Start experience that we talked about in our Windows Phone 8 Preview. Apart from that, it must be noted that all Windows Phone 8 updates will be made available via an Over The Air (OTA) route. Microsoft has also confirmed that they will support Windows Phone 8 devices with updates for a minimum of 18 months from launch, while registered users are able to gain early access to updates of Windows Phone 8 updates.
